Our purpose

QuidCast helps you understand financial news and explore illustrative calculations. It does not recommend financial products, assess what is suitable for you, or offer personalised financial advice.

Where the news comes from

The news feed uses Marketaux and an optional RSS feed through a Cloudflare Worker. We link to the original publisher. The live feed filters for recent stories and removes some extraction errors; a short feed is preferable to filling it with old articles.

What the AI can see

The standard story explanation is generated from the headline, description and supplied metadata. It does not necessarily include the full original article. “Explain an article” can send fetched or captured article text. The original source is the place to verify facts and context.

AI explanations are generated on request and may contain errors. Instructions require educational language and acknowledgement of uncertainty. Obvious recommendation language is screened before display, but automated checks are not a guarantee of accuracy. No human review is implied for an individual generated response.

Your data, feature by feature

QuidCast adds no analytics, advertising trackers or cookies. Hosting, AI and data providers process the connection information needed to serve requests, subject to their settings and policies. Local saving does not mean that an explicitly requested AI explanation is processed on your device.

Market data and calculator assumptions

Market quotes are fetched from data providers; they may be delayed or reflect the last market session. Refresh is attempted every minute. Saved snapshots are not presented as current quotes, and unavailable quotes are shown without substitute prices.

Calculator starting values are examples, not market offers or forecasts. Mortgage calculations assume a repayment loan and a constant rate and exclude fees. Investment growth assumptions are hypothetical. A pension withdrawal illustration is not a promise that an income will be sustainable.

How the site is funded

QuidCast accepts optional reader support. The public tools remain free and require no account. Support the project on Buy Me a Coffee.
